We’ve firmly put the longest day of the year behind us, polished off that last tub of Quality Street and made the official transition from our Christmas sweatpants. You may be making New Year’s resolutions, or more realistically, hiding from the bank statement perched on the mantelpiece. In a nutshell, trying to imagine anything past Dry January, beans on toast and a wardrobe of sad, sorry knitwear seems entirely futile.
I can, however strange it sounds, imagine my next homewares fix and it’s been somewhat inspired by the forthcoming BRÅKIG collection from IKEA. Featuring over 30 beautiful items, the limited edition collection is a collaboration between the Swedish brand and Danish collective ArtRebels. Available in only 20 countries in the world, BRÅKIG has been designed for people with open minds but limited spaces and small budgets. Heavily influenced by Danish design, I love the pastel colour palette coupled with the use of unpolished, natural materials like plywood in clean, angular lines. Launching 1st February, that gives me a good month to shake off the post-Christmas blues before attempting to fling myself into Spring.
